The Tsar was in charge of the army in August 1915 since they were doing ever so poorly due to the lack of training and equipment, though he did this in resistance towards the ministers and generals which put him in an odd situation with the Duma and the Russian citizens. Nicholas's support from the Octobrists during 1905 was diminished as Russian defeats mounted during WWI. 4_There has also been many rumors that Rasputin manipulated Tsar thorough his wife Alexandra by indulging sexual relations at court which heightened the mistrust of the people in their monarchy. -> http://russia-1917-1918.wikispaces.com/Long+Term+Causes
